Reported Arsenal and Manchester City target Nabil Fekir has been crowned this season’s Young Player of the Year in France following a terrific Ligue 1 campaign.
The Lyon playmaker has scored 13 goals and added a further nine assists in 33 Ligue 1 appearances this season, helping his side to second spot and a place in next season’s Champions League.
At just 21 years of age, Fekir has a tremendous amount of potential and has already attracted the attentions of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, as per a report in the Express.
The Gunners have often scoured the French market for the top talent outside of Paris Saint-Germain, and Fekir is a typical Arsene Wenger player, boasting attacking ability in abundance.
Manchester City have also been accredited with an interest in the player, with the Citizens wanting to freshen the squad up and inject some much-needed youth.
However, both clubs may need to look elsewhere after Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas told L’Equipe last week that Fekir along with star striker Alexandre Lacazette has decided to stay at the club.
"It is in their interest (to stay) and they have decided to,” the chief explained.
That said, the allure of the Premier League and its riches can often be overwhelming for players on the continent and it surely won’t be long until we see Fekir plying his trade at a top European club.
