A player currently on loan from Manchester United has been reflecting on his fine spell this season.
Manchester United winger Nani has taken to Instagram to send a message to his followers ahead of what is likely to be his last game for loan club Sporting Lisbon.
The Portuguese international moved from Old Trafford back to his former club in the summer, and he has enjoyed a fine spell, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists to date.
With Angel Di Maria, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Adnan Januzaj already at United, and Memphis Depay soon to arrive, it remains to be seen if Nani will have a future under manager Louis van Gaal given the sheer number of wingers competing for a starting spot. But whatever happens in the future, he has clearly enjoyed himself in his homeland.
Along with a selection of pictures from his time at Sporting, the United winger posted the following message ahead of the club’s clash with Braga: “All together to achieve another victory. Thanks for your support throughout the year. I felt at home again.”
It is a telling message, from a player who has often failed to play to his full potential in Manchester.
There is no doubt he is talented, but at United he was also extremely inconsistent, something that has been less evident this season.
As a result, van Gaal may yet give him another chance to impress. Then again he could cash in on a player who would still fetch a tidy sum.
