Manchester United to reportedly bid for Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller

Old Trafford 3

Could Manchester United bring in one of Bayern Munich’s star players this summer?

According to a report from ESPN, Manchester United will make a summer bid for Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller as they look to further strengthen their squad.

The report cites unnamed sources which have allegedly told the news outlet that United manager Louis van Gaal sees the German international as an ideal fit due to his versatility on the pitch and his goal-scoring ability.

Muller can operate as a secondary striker, a centre forward or a right winger, and with doubts remaining over the long-term future of both Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie, the 25-year-old could be a brilliant addition to United’s forward line.

Muller has scored 120 goals in 303 matches for Bayern but with a contract until the summer of 2019 it would take a lot of persuading – and a sizeable bid from United – to convince the German side to do business.

That said, the report claims Muller looks up to van Gaal and that there has been some discord between the player and his current boss Pep Guardiola. As a result, a bid in excess of £30million is being suggested.
