Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Lovren's performance against Palace

Anfield Pitch

Liverpool lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace on Saturday but what did Reds fans make of Dejan Lovren's contribution?

When Liverpool signed Dejan Lovren from Southampton last summer it looked like a fine piece of business.

After all, the Croatia international had impressed at St Mary’s and looked every inch the quality centre-back Liverpool needed to solidify their back-line.

But things have not gone quite according to plan since then, with Lovren looking out of sorts and out of his depth many times this season.

Another example of that came on Saturday, when Liverpool hosted Crystal Palace at Anfield in a game that will always be remembered as the last home performance of Reds skipper and legend Steven Gerrard.

Liverpool ultimately lost the game 3-1, with Adam Lallana’s goal cancelled out by strikes from Jason Puncheon, Wilfried Zaha and Glenn Murray. And one player who came in for plenty of criticism for that capitulation was Lovren.

After the game we took to Twitter to see what Liverpool fans thought of the 25-year-old’s performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
