The Hull City defender moved from White Hart Lane last summer after nine years, with Federico Fazio arriving from Sevilla in his place.
Tottenham came up against an old favourite on Saturday when they took on Hull, with former captain Michael Dawson visiting White Hart Lane for the first time since moving to the KC Stadium last summer.
Hull are deep in relegation trouble after the 2-0 loss, but Dawson himself put in a reasonable performance. The man that came in for him at Spurs, Federico Fazio, has been far from convincing this season, and again struggled with the pace and movement of Hull, particularly in the opening 45 minutes.
Below we look at how they compared in the game:
|Team||Won Tackle||Unsuccessful Touch||Aerial Duel Won||% Ground Duel Won||Touches||% Passing Accuracy||Poss Lost All||Error Led To Shot||Mins Played|
|Michael Dawson||Hull City||0||0||2||50||45||69.44%||13||0||90|
According to the statistics the Argentine had one instance of losing possession through bad control, and it was an error that led to a shot for Hull. He did win two tackles while Dawson failed the make a successful challenge.
The Hull man won two aerial duels in the game, with Fazio winning 9 headers but none of which he was challenged for. Both players won half of their ground duels for possession, and Fazio, with Tottenham allowed more of the ball, had the greater stats when it came to touches and passing accuracy.
However, many of the Tottenham defender's loose passes led to dangerous moments against the Tigers, and his slack marking played a part in a disappointing first half for the home side.
Dawson on the other hand defended bravely, but could do little to stop either goal against his old side.
A look at the stats for the season indicate that the Englishman has made fewer mistakes than his replacement at White Hart Lane, who does nevertheless boast stronger results when it comes to aerial and ground duels.
|Team||Won Tackle||Unsuccessful Touch||% Aerial Duel Won||% Ground Duel Won||Error Lead To Goal||Passing Accuracy||Poss Lost All||Error Lead To Shot||Appearances||Mins Played|
|Michael Dawson||Hull City||25||5||67.65||63.67||0||75.66%||229||1||27||2344|
But what do Spurs fans think? Has Fazio been an improvement on Dawson or should Pochettino have kept the long-serving Yorkshireman?
