West Ham United managerial candidate Rafa Benitez comments on his future

The Napoli boss is being linked with taking over from Sam Allardyce.

West Ham United's management position continues to be a topic of discussion in the Premier League.

The Hammers current boss Sam Allardyce is not universally popular at Upton Park and his contract ends this summer. With that in mind it is widely considered that Allardyce will be leaving the club in the summer.

One man who has been linked with taking over from the former Bolton boss is ex-Liverpool gaffer Rafa Benitez.

The Spaniard, who has also had spells at Valencia, Inter Milan and Chelsea is currently in charge at Napoli in Serie A.

He has now spoken about a potential new job back in England.

London24 quote him as stating after the recent Europa League semi-final exit against Dnipro:

“Right now we have to concentrate on the game with Cesena.

“I spoke to the president, I still have to talk to my family, but we have to focus on the important matches we still have.

“Will my decision only be made at the end of the season? I don’t know. We’ll see.”

Benitez has obviously proven himself in English football. During his time at Liverpool he won various trophies including the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League and also won the UEFA Europa League during his time as interim boss at Chelsea.

His family are also still based in England so a move to the Premier League is certainly something he might consider.
