QPR players Charlie Austin and Matty Phillips banter on Twitter after 2-1 Newcastle United triumph

The two stars were clearly pleased to get one over on Newcastle today.

QPR may be down, but they decided to potentially drag someone else with them today. They defeated Newcastle United today 2-1 thanks to goals from Matty Phillips and Leroy Fer in the second half.

Newcastle had earlier taken the lead through an Emmanuel Riviere goal - but QPR did not lie back and take defeat - instead deciding to go at Newcastle and get a proud victory at Loftus Road.

After what was an awful display in their last outing against Manchester City, which saw the club relegated, it was a performance and result that QPR's fans probably felt they deserved.

It was a win that certainly went down well with the QPR players. Top goalscorer Charlie Austin was one of the QPR players who took to Twitter after the game - congratulating Fer's excellent strike in the second half.

Matty Phillips was also at it. The goalscorer of the first goal for QPR on the day was pointing out the fact that Austin actually bagged an assist today, rather than a goal.

QPR may be down, but with the quality in their squad they will hope to return as soon as possible.
