Gary Lineker and Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel react to Leicester City’s goalless draw with Sunderland in the Premier League.

Gary Lineker has taken to social networking site Twitter to revel in Leicester City avoiding the drop from the Premier League.

The Foxes failed to win against fellow relegation candidates Sunderland away from home this afternoon, but the goalless draw was enough for them to retain their Premier League status for next season.

After today’s results in the Premier League, Leicester are guaranteed to finish outside the bottom three.

Nigel Pearson’s are currently 14th in the league table with 38 points from 37 matches, four points clear of Hull City, who are 18th in the standings at the moment.

Following the confirmation that the Foxes will remain in the Premier League next season, former Leicester striker Lineker made the following post on Twitter:

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel was delighted with Leicester’s escape, as his son Kasper plays for them as a goalkeeper.

Leicester’s final game of the season is against already-relegated Queens Park Rangers next Sunday.
