Ex-Leeds United defender Ian Harte tweets message to Middlesbrough’s Adam Clayton

Former Leeds United defender Ian Harte, recently released by Bournemouth, congratulates Adam Clayton and Middlesbrough on reaching the Championship playoff final.

Former Leeds United defender Ian Harte has taken to social networking site Twitter to congratulate Adam Clayton on reaching the Championship playoff final with Middlesbrough this campaign.

Middlesbrough finished fourth in the ‘regular’ Championship season and have to negotiate the playoffs to gain promotion to the Premier League.

Aitor Karanka’s side won the semi-finals of the playoff tie against Brentford 5-1 on aggregate.

Having won 2-1 against the Bees at Griffin Park in the first leg last week, Boro got the better of Mark Warburton’s side 3-0 at the Riverside Stadium in the second leg last night.

Following Middlesbrough’s victory over Brentford, former Leeds left-back Harte posted the following message on Twitter:

Harte was part of Bournemouth’s Championship-winning side this season, but the former Republic of Ireland international has been released.

Interestingly, midfielder Clayton is also a former Leeds player who was sold by the club to Huddersfield Town in the summer of 2012.

Harte and Clayton were teammates at Carlisle United during the 2009-10 season.
