Gerrard will leave the Merseyside outfit at the end of the season when his current contract runs out.
The former England international captain will then join Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy on an 18-month contract.
Many football followers believe that Gerrard is still good enough to play in the Premier League, but his former Liverpool teammate Hamann says that the midfielder should not return to Anfield after leaving in the summer.
@DietmarHamann Do you think there's a good chance Gerrard will return on loan in the new year, like Lampard?— Warren Ashurst (@wazza_ashurst) May 15, 2015
No and I don't think it would be a good idea. Time to move on. https://t.co/4mcQTy2Yqx— Didi Hamann (@DietmarHamann) May 15, 2015
While many Liverpool fans will want to see Gerrard return to Anfield, perhaps Hamann has a point.
The 34-year-old has done all he could for the Premier League club in his career, and it is time that both parties move on.
There is no doubt that Gerrard will be missed at Liverpool, who will also feel his leadership, but it is time for player and club to part company.
