Tottenham are reportedly interested in Monaco star Geoffrey Kondogbia.
According to The Sun, Tottenham have been watching Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia - but Manchester City are favourites for his signature.
Spurs will be delighted with the contributions from Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason in the heart of midfield this season, but ineffectual displays from the likes of Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Mousa Dembele mean another midfielder should be on Mauricio Pochettino's shopping list - and a holding player with power may be ideal.
It's therefore little surprise to see Spurs linked with a move for Monaco star Kondogbia, who has many similar traits to Victor Wanyama, who enjoyed great success under Pochettino at Southampton last season.
The 22-year-old, formerly of Lens, joined Monaco from Sevilla in 2013, and has been a regular for the Ligue 1 side ever since, and even shot to fame earlier this season with a superb long-range strike against Arsenal in the Champions League.
Now though, according to The Sun, Kondogbia is being scouted by Tottenham, as well as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City, with the latter wanting him as a replacement for Yaya Toure.
Tottenham fans may be somewhat worried considering that the last two French midfielders they purchased - Capoue and Benjamin Stambouli - haven't made much of an impact, but Kondogbia is far more highly-rated than those two players, and could even replace them if Tottenham can fend off their Premier League rivals for the French international this summer.
