Report: Sheffield Wednesday chasing clean-sheet king Jayson Leutwiler of Shrewsbury Town

The Swiss stopper has been in top form in League Two this season.

Sheffield Wednesday had perhaps the best goalkeeper in the Championship last season. Keiren Westwood was voted in to the championship team of the year between the sticks after an exceptional term after joining from Sunderland on a free transfer last summer.

However, it is reported they are looking for a new keeper this summer, with another in-form stopper high on the agenda.

The Sun, as reported by Sky Sports, earlier this week, have reported that Sheffield Wednesday are also keen on Shrewsbury Town stopper Jayson Leutwiler.

The former FC Basel youngster joined Shrewsbury from Middlesbrough last summer, and has been in great form at the New Meadow.

Leutwiler has kept an incredible 25 clean sheets in 49 games for the club since arriving in the summer, so there is good reason to want him at the club.

However Westwood has himself had a great season. He kept 17 clean sheets in 44 appearances this season - making him the second best in terms of this statistic in the Championship this season.

So signing Leutwiler would appear to be an odd decision from Sheffield Wednesday, despite his obvious talent.
