AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord have reportedly joined the race for Willem II left back Mitchell Dijks.
According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Willem II left back Mitchell Dijks is now wanted by Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar.
The 22-year-old defender came through the ranks at Ajax having joined from Volendam as a teenager, but after a loan spell with Heerenveen last term, Dijks left Amsterdam for good last summer, penning a two-year deal with Eredivisie rivals Willem II.
It seems that Dijks has now proven himself as a solid starting left back, with interest building in him given that he has just one year left on his contract.
The Scottish Sun recently reported that Celtic were lining up a £900,000 summer bid for Dijks, before the defender then confirmed to Voetbal.com that the Bhoys had indeed made an offer, and were interested in luring him to Scotland at the end of the season.
With Celtic lacking competition for Emilio Izaguirre at left back, Dijks would make sense as a cut-price option to push Honduran international Izaguirre next season and beyond.
However, De Telegraaf now believe that Celtic have been joined by AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord in the race to sign Dijks, as this image of the newspaper shows.
Dijks may now prefer to stay in the Netherlands rather than up sticks and move to Glasgow, but with Champions League football on offer - even if it is only the qualifying rounds right now - from Ronny Deila's men, Dijks may be tempted into a move to Celtic instead.
This added interest would certainly make Celtic's pursuit of him slightly more complicated, but Deila no doubt has more targets in mind, with Voetbal Primeur reporting that the Bhoys have an interest in Trencin left back Kingsley Madu.
