Michael Owen has predicted in his Colossusbets.com column that Manchester United will win Sunday’s Premier League clash against Arsenal at home.
The former United striker has backed the Red Devils to register a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford or to play out a 1-1 draw.
“Man Utd may have ended their run of three defeats with a 2-1 win at Palace but it was far from a convincing victory and, like City, they will be keen to take three points here to give them a chance of avoiding that Champions League qualifier at the start of next season,” wrote Owen on Colossusbets.com.
“But, even though they beat United 2-1 here in the FA Cup, Arsenal’s fragility against the top sides in the league is well known, and that defeat against Swansea must have been a big blow. I’m not too confident about this – Utd clearly aren’t playing well – but I take 2-1 and 1-1.”
Could Michael Owen’s prediction come true?
United will head into Sunday’s game on the back of a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace away from home at Selhurst Park.
Playing at Old Trafford will give Louis van Gaal’s side an advantage, but Arsenal are a force to be reckoned with.
Although the Gunners suffered a 1-0 defeat to Swansea City at the Emirates Stadium in North London on Monday, they are a team who have been in better form over the past few weeks.
Arsene Wenger’s side have won five successive Premier League games away from home and will head into Sunday’s match aiming for all three points to consolidate their place in the top four.
However, United have won seven of their last eight league games at Old Trafford and have earned earned 43 points at home this season - only Chelsea have won more, with 46.
