Harry Redknapp urges Gareth Bale to return to Tottenham

Redknapp wants to see Bale return to Tottenham this summer.

Bale has been chastised in the media due to a series of increasingly poor performances, and Harry Redknapp has told talkSPORT that he is keen to see him return to Spurs if he leaves Real Madrid.

When asked what he’d like Bale to do in the summer, Redknapp replied: “Go back to Spurs! If he did come back to England, I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have in my team. He’s a fantastic player, he’s got absolutely everything. He’s an amazing talent.”

It certainly looks likely that Bale will return to England this summer, after his poor campaign with Madrid, but Tottenham are one of the most least likely clubs to secure his signing.

The Welsh forward is clearly fond of the club, but he is just too big nowadays to not be playing in the Champions League, and the Lilywhites’ continual inability to secure a top four finish will cost them.

Manchester United and Chelsea are seen as the two main contenders to sign Bale, and they certainly have the financial clout to do so, but the pressure at both those clubs are similar to Madrid.

If he were to return to Spurs, it would be as a hero, and Bale would be universally loved at White Hart Lane. He would excel as the main star in a ‘big fish in a small pond’ situation, in such a way that he cannot excel as he is currently.

Even if Spurs pulled out all the stops they would struggle to secure Bale ahead of United or Chelsea, but it is hard to deny a return to North London would be great to see.
