Report: Wolves want West Brom target Sammy Ameobi to replace Bakary Sako, who could join Baggies

The Newcastle United man is wanted by both Wolves and West Brom.

Wolves have reportedly identified the man they want to replace seemingly outgoing winger Bakary Sako, but in an interesting twist he is also being linked with the team most keenly following the Mali international.

The Chronicle is today reporting that Wolves are hoping to snap up Sammy Ameobi from Newcastle United when his contract expires in the summer.

The wide-man, who has scored twice in 26 appearances for Newcastle this season, is expected to leave St James Park this summer.

Wolves need a new wide-man, as star player Sako is also becoming a free agent in the summer.

The team keenest on signing him seem to be West Brom. The Baggies are desperate for wide options and the Daily Mail reported earlier this month that West Brom were very interested in the player, but that Sako may be pricing himself out of a move.

Interestingly, it was reported by the Expess and Star today, that West Brom were also keen on the Newcastle winger.

Wolves will be the most fearful of parties in this mess of negotiations.

Sako is leaving regardless and if he does not join West Brom chances are they will convince him to play in the Premier League rather than drop to the Championship.

Wolves will therefore hope Sako can finally arrange a deal with the Baggies, so they can swoop in on Ameobi as an immediate replacement.
