Bolton want to sign Rudy Austin, who has just left Leeds United.
It was confirmed yesterday by the official Leeds website that Austin is set to be released at the expiration of his contract, and Bolton boss Neil Lennon is keen on signing him, as he revamps his squad ahead of next season.
The report states that Lennon wants to build a squad with a lot more physicality, having struggled to cope with the rigours of the Championship this term, and Austin ticks that box.
The Jamaican international is an all-action midfielder, who is both physical with some talent to him as well, and a fierce long-range shot. At 29-years-old he is at his peak ability level, and he has a wealth of Championship experience which proves so vital in securing promotion out of the second tier.
However, there is a potential issue that could stall a move to the Macron Stadium, with Bolton reportedly not keen on signing high wage earners whilst they attempt to come out on financial difficulty.
Austin himself was let go from a club in Leeds who were trying to reduce their wage bill to ensure their comply with Financial Fair Play, and Austin’s wage demands could prove too high for Bolton to deal with in the chase to sign the talented midfielder.
