Mauricio Pochettino frustrated by Tottenham's inconsistency

Tottenham Hotspur have been guilty of throwing away points on numerous occasions this season.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told the Daily Star that his side must become more consistent next season.

Spurs have struggled to piece together a string of good performances this term, and Pochettino has grown frustrated at their tendency to let their standards dip.

The Argentine boss feels that his team have been guilty of taking their foot off the gas on too many occasions this season and says this is the main reason why they missed out on a top-four place and qualification for the Champions League.

“We need to be more consistent next season," he said. "This season we played very well in many games but we are not consistent.

“We need to keep our level the whole season. I believe because we didn’t do that we missed out on the top four.

“This season has been a learning experience for the players."

Spurs have shown how dangerous an opponent they can be this term, and their wins over arch-rivals Arsenal and title winners Chelsea will live long in the memory.

Losses to the likes of Stoke City and Aston Villa at home have been hugely frustrating, though, and it rather highlights the inconsistency that has plagued the London club's season.

It will be up to Pochettino to fix this problem and he will be hoping that his summer singings can go some way to repairing the current deficiencies in his squad.

Spurs are expected to be busy in the coming months and the quality of their additions is likely to define whether they make it into the top four or not next term.
