Jan Aage Fjortoft suggests Bastian Schweinsteiger should join Manchester United

Bastian Schweinsteiger

The Bayern Munich legend has struggled for form recently.

This week saw Bayern Munich being dumped out of the Champions League by Barcelona. The Bavarians had been defeated 3-0 in the first-leg, leaving them with an uphill challenge when it came to the second leg at the Allianz Arena.

It was something of a wake up call for Bayern. While they may have cantered to the Bundesliga title this season they have not been formidable often enough in Europe this season.

Now, one Bundesliga expert believes a Bayern veteran should make his way to Manchester United.

Jan Aage Fjortoft played for Swindon Town, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Barnsley during his five years in English football - gracing the Premier League during his time with Boro and The Tykes.

A Norwegian international with over 70 caps for the Scandinavian country throughout his 20-year footballing career - the 46-year-old forward ended his playing days outside of his homeland in Germany, which led him to a career in German television.

Yesterday he said this about a potential move to Manchester United for Bastian Schweinsteiger.

'Schweini' has been linked with united in the past and of course knows Louis van Gaal from their time at Bayern together.

He has played 109 times for Germany and has played in nearly 500 games for the club in a career spanning back to 1998.

The 30-year-old is perhaps ready for a change and Manchester United would be the perfect option if he did decide to depart his beloved Bayern.
