Several outlets reported the Dani Alves move done yesterday, but Balague is unsure.
The Brazilian has been toying with the idea of a new deal at Barca for some time now. He joined the Catalan giants from Sevilla in 2008 and has gone on to play 340 games for the club in that time.
Manchester United are certainly in need of a new right-back. Rafael is out of favour and Antonio Valencia an auxiliary option at best.
Alves is still regarded as one of the best right-backs in the world, with good reason. Even at the age of 32 he has been in terrific form at Barcelona.
Louis van Gaal has already proven that he likes signing big name players. The likes of Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria are the type of player in question.
But despite the rumours, one man in the know cannot see it happening.
Convinced D. Alves will remain at Barcelona. By the way, his form in the last 2 months, on the way to end of his contract, is outstanding— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) May 13, 2015
United will certainly hope that is not the case. Alves would be an exceptional addition to their side, especially as they currently lack options in that area of the park.
