Taking a look at another teenage forward making waves for Manchester United's under-21s.
Manchester United player James Wilson may be regarded as the best young striker at the club, but another teenager could soon be giving him a run for his money.
Ashley Fletcher is a 19-year-old forward who has risen through the ranks at Old Trafford much like Wilson did before him.
After scoring regularly for the under-16s and under-18s, Fletcher featured for United’s under-19s in last season’s UEFA Youth League campaign. And now he is starting to play more regularly for the club’s under-21s, scoring two goals in his last two appearances at that level.
After netting the winner in the under-21s’ recent 1-0 win against Southampton, Fletcher showed what he can do when played on the left wing, coming on as a late substitute against Manchester City and scoring one and setting up another in a 4-0 victory.
In short, United have yet another gem on their hands and if Wilson is loaned out next season to get more top flight experience on a regular basis, Fletcher may find himself given chances as a first-team substitute just as his fellow teenager has in this campaign.
