James Tarkowski believes that Button will make it in the Premier League.

Since Tim Sherwood has taken over Aston Villa he has been linked with a number of former colleagues from his time at Tottenham Hotspur.

In particular, it is youth players who have his attention.

In recent times Villa have been linked with the likes of Alex Pritchard, Massimo Luongo and now, Brentford goalkeeper David Button.

Aston Villa were linked with a move for the stopper earlier in the week by the Daily Mail.

Now, a player who has played in front of him all campaign, has made it clear that he thinks the keeper is good enough for the Premier League.

Brentford defender James Tarkowski told getwestlondon yesterday:

“He’s definitely got the ability to play in the Premier League in my opinion.

“He’s the best keeper in the league from what I’ve seen this season - he’s been outstanding from start to finish.

“You see a lot of keepers these days that are good at one thing and lack something else but Button is a great all-round keeper, he can kick it and he can command his area."

Button spent seven years at Tottenham but never made an appearance for the club. During his time at White Hart Lane he had 13 loan spells away from Spurs with 12 different clubs.

He joined Brentford in 2013 after an unsuccessful year at Charlton Athletic and has gone on to prove himself a real talent in the Championship.

Tim Sherwood appears to have reservations over the goalkeeping position at Villa, recently dropping Brad Guzan for Shay Given between the sticks.
