Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given has told the club's official site that his place in the team is under pressure.
Given seems to have become first choice stopper at Villa since Tim Sherwood took charge, but the experienced 'keeper is taking nothing for granted.
He says that Guzan is still pushing him for a place in the team and he insists that their relationship has not been affected by Sherwood's recent decision.
"Brad is still pushing me really hard for that spot. It's important that you perform every week to stay in," he said.
"Brad has been very supportive. We have a good relationship. We work hard every day pushing each other. We obviously both know it's the manager who picks the team - and not ourselves. It's a good healthy relationship."
Given has played in Villa's last two matches and Guzan may feel that it is harsh that he has lost his place.
The American has been one of the Claret and Blues' more consistent performers throughout the campaign, but his error against Manchester City appears to have been very costly.
Guzan's mistake allowed Sergio Aguero to score in City's 3-2 win over Villa and Sherwood has been ruthless in his team selections since.
Given will now be looking to keep his place for the rest of the season as the Midlands side look to keep up their good form and avoid the drop.
