Manchester United's back-up goalkeeper appears to rate one of the club's young prospects very highly.
There is one name in particular that may surprise the vast majority of fans, given that the player in question has only featured twice for United’s first-team to date.
That player is Brazil under-20 international Andreas Pereira, who recently signed a new three-year deal at Old Trafford.
When asked who would make his side, Valdes said, “Ah, I feel a special love for Juan Mata and Ander Herrera; and also Andreas Pereira. One more? Wayne Rooney – it is a good team I think.”
It certainly is, and the inclusion of Pereira suggests what kind of an impact the 19-year-old has had on his United teammates in training, even if he is yet to show the fans what he can do on a consistent basis for the first-team.
The United teenager’s only senior appearances to date have been against MK Dons in the Capital One Cup and as a late substitute against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
Despite his limited game-time, he is extremely well regarded at the club and has the talent to become a fan favourite in the near future.
