MK Dons manager Karl Robinson explained on talkSPORT that he feels there aren’t too many players who can have the same impact in an attacking midfield role as Dele Alli.
The Tottenham Hotspur owned midfielder played a starring role for the club last season, as they fought their way into the Championship for next season.
Robinson has explained what he likes about the player and what Tottenham can look forward to in the youngster ahead of next season.
“When you look at that (his stats last season) from an offensive midfield perspective, there are few players around these days who can go and do that,” said Robinson.
“I just love his (Alli’s) mentality – He loves to chat about football and he’s a tremendous kid – He can conduct himself with adults who are double or treble his age.”
Alli scored 16 goals and produced nine assists which is a tally that any midfielder at any level would be proud of.
It will be interesting to see what Mauricio Pochettino does with him because Christian Eriksen has been superb in behind Harry Kane this season.
It would be amazing if the Dane doesn’t start next season as first choice in his position, with Alli facing a challenge in terms of fighting his way into the first team picture at White Hart Lane.
There is the option of Alli staying with the MK Dons to play in the Championship for next year, where he’d arguably enjoy more game time and develop his experience significantly.
However, Pochettino has proven this season that he’s not afraid to throw younger players into his team, which gives them the opportunity to further improve and express themselves.
