Never worked with him so I wouldn't like to comment but they need a few players this summer. Benteke top of my list. https://t.co/kmqOUBcT0m— Didi Hamann (@DietmarHamann) May 13, 2015
Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann revealed on Twitter that Aston Villa forward Christian Benteke would be at the top of his list in terms of potential signings for his old side.
The German revealed that he’s never seen Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel bullied in the same way that Benteke managed, when the sides recently met in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
Yes absolutely. The fella is awesome. Never seen Skrtel bullied by someone like he did at Wembley. He's a monster. https://t.co/RgTR6b2cWd— Didi Hamann (@DietmarHamann) May 13, 2015
He also suggested that if the Belgian attacker carries a fee of £30 million, then that’s exactly what the Reds should pay to make sure the deal gets done.
Liverpool have struggled at times this season in terms of scoring goals. With Daniel Sturridge frequently out of the team with injury and Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert both struggling, there has been a lack of punch in the team’s attack.
Benteke does have the strength and frame that means he could play effectively up front on his own for Brendan Rodgers’ team, which would allow the manager to flood the midfield as they look to control key games.
Villa boss Tim Sherwood has made it simple over the best way for his team to utilise Benteke and Hamann feels it’s simple in terms of how Liverpool should spend their money.
