Celtic have another young full-back who deserves a chance along with Darnell Fisher.
Celtic manager Ronny Deila is certainly not afraid to give youth a chance, and with the Scottish Premiership secured yet again, the Bhoys boss gave young right-back Darnell Fisher run-outs against both Dundee and Aberdeen in recent days.
The 21-year-old is highly-rated at Celtic Park and it is likely the fans will see a lot more of him next season. But with Fisher getting chances on the right side of defence, could another youngster experience first-team action on the opposite flank before the season is complete?
Joe Chalmers is the same age as Fisher but the left-back has not featured for Celtic’s senior side this season.
He does have three appearances for them, but this campaign has seen him look to impress through his performances for Stevie’s Frail’s under-20 side.
A goal and an assist in a recent win against St Johnstone’s youngsters showed what he is capable of when he gets up the pitch, and given his age and previous matches for the senior side, it would be no surprise if he got chances similar to Fisher in the coming weeks.
Celtic have two matches left this season, away to St Johnstone and at home to Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
So with few senior players available at left-back for the Bhoys right now, why not give a youngster a chance to prove he deserves a new contract at the club?
