Alan Shearer joins Twitter... and threatens trolls with Newcastle United tickets!

Alan Shearer

The Newcastle legend's first real venture onto social media - inevitably - was a joke at the club's expense.

Alan Shearer is now on Twitter - and threatening trolls with Newcastle United tickets!

Indeed, the club legend has joined the social media networking site and, with only his second tweet, made a joke at his former club's expense.

Shearer warned that any abuse will be met with a swift visit from the ex-striker to their doorstep, with the gift of tickets to watch the Magpies in action.

The now BBC and beIN sports pundit has recently taken part in an advertising campaign where he hands out tickets to young Newcastle fans.

Now, though, even he recognises that it's far from the ideal time for such press.

Shearer's tweet has received universal approval, with a number of users declaring he has 'won' the site!

Newcastle face two crunch Premier League clashes to close their campaign and ensure their top-flight survival - against Queens Park Rangers and West Ham United.

In truth, boss John Carver couldn't have hand-picked better games, as West Ham have been off form for some time and QPR are already relegated.

But with eight losses in a row followed by a draw the sum of Newcastle's recent form, there are no guarantees at all.
