The Villa boss believes the 19-year-old attacker's playing style is similar to that of the Spurs and England legend.
Grealish, 19, struggled to keep himself in the now-departed Paul Lambert’s plans after earning his first-team breakthrough at the start of the season, spending most of the Scot's final months in charge either warming the bench or with the reserves, but has since flourished under Sherwood’s guidance.
The teenager attacker has now made six straight starts since being handed his full Premier League debut in last month’s 3-3 draw with Queens Park Rangers and has more than rewarded his manager’s faith in him with performances which have belied his tender age.
The weekend’s 1-0 win over West Ham United saw perhaps his best showing to date, as the Solihull-native took home the man of the match award after providing the assist for Tom Cleverley’s first-half goal, which helped edge the club closer towards top-flight safety with two games left.

Sherwood himself has not been surprised at how his star prospect has taken to regular action after witnessing what he can do in training and adds that he even sees a bit of Waddle in his playing style, despite recently declaring that he is best used as a playmaking No. 10 rather than on the flanks.
The Villa boss believes he is comparable to the 62-times capped World Cup veteran in how he uses his pace and skill and hopes he goes on to have the same kind of career.
"Jack is not fazed at all. He creates chances,” said Sherwood. "I'd love to play with Jack because every time he gets the ball I know he's going to create a chance.
"The boys are getting to know him. It's only just recently that he's been training on a regular basis with them.
"Now they know him and love him and realise what a big talent he is.
"He's got pace. He's deceptively quick. He's got that Chris Waddle style too. If he could be half the player of Chris Waddle, we have a right player on our hands."
