One of Tottenham Hotspur's back-room staff may be about to leave the club according to reports.
The story claims the ex-Spurs player was alienated by former manager Andre Villas-Boas shortly after he took charge, and despite Maurico Pochettino now being at the helm it has been suggested there could still be a change.
The claim comes in a story that discusses the politics of the North London club and it makes for interesting reading. But if the claim regarding Freund is true, it is another twist in a story that has more disappointing endings than happy ones.
Tottenham started the campaign in fine form and for a while silverware looked a distinct possibility as the club impressed in both the Europa League and the Capital One Cup.
But with just two games remaining, Tottenham are currently sixth in the Premier League, their biggest possible achievement securing Europa League football for another year.
Four points behind Liverpool with only six left to play for, it looks unlikely that Spurs will finish any higher than their current position. And then it will be all about what chairman Daniel Levy and Pochettino do this summer.
Whether Freund is still a part of the club then remains to be seen.
