Manchester United and Liverpool are also reportedly interested in a player Villa will be desperate to keep.
Tim Sherwood last week said the powerful frontman is as good as anyone in Europe right now, and so it's no surprise that the Villans are fielding enquiries for the 24-year-old from clubs other than those in the Premier League.
Italian outfit Roma are said to be one club interested in signing the former Genk striker, a Serie A side with larger connections to Belgian football than most given the presence of Benteke's international teammate Radja Nainggolan, and manager Rudi Garcia's time in charge of Lille on the border between France and Belgium.
And Sky Sports Italia are reporting that the striker's agent is due to meet Roma officials in the coming days to discuss the possibility of a move to the Italian capital.
According to sources such as the Mail, that same agent has poured cold water on interest Liverpool and Manchester United might have in the Villa star, who has 12 goals in 27 games this season, with 10 coming in his last 11 games.
"Benteke is going nowhere in the summer, no one can afford him," Sherwood told the BBC ahead of the Midlands club's meeting with West Ham on Saturday.
But if Benteke keeps up the kind of form he's been producing in recent weeks, the Villa board and their talented young manager are going to be urged to put their money where their mouth is.
