According to The Sun, Newcastle United are considering a £2m bid for Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton this summer, but face competition from Everton.
The Sun believe that Newcastle are eyeing a £2m bid for Burnley goalkeeper Heaton, who has enjoyed an impressive campaign for the Clarets despite Sean Dyche's men suffering relegation on Saturday.
The former Manchester United stopper has played all 36 Premier League games for Burnley this season, and the 29-year-old may be angling for a Premier League return rather than head back to the Championship next season.
The report suggests that Newcastle, as well as Everton, want to hand Heaton an immediate return to the top flight this summer, in a move which would certainly pose some questions for Magpies fans.
Newcastle have seen Tim Krul play between the sticks for many years now, whilst Karl Darlow will head to St. James' Park this summer having spent this season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
Any bid for Heaton would suggest that one of those two goalkeepers would be leaving the club, with Dutchman Krul the favourite given recent speculation from The Mirror that Southampton are interested in signing him this summer - and whilst Heaton's possible arrival wouldn't be one to set tongues wagging on Tyneside, he has certainly enjoyed a productive season for Burnley.
