Report: Juventus striker Carlos Tevez keen on MLS move

Carlos Tevez

The ex-Manchester City star's representatives have reportedly contacted MLS teams recently to make his interest in joining the league known.

Juventus striker Carlos Tevez could become the latest big-name star to make the move to the States, according to Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl.

Wahl cites three separate sources as confirming this week that Tevez’s representatives have contacted MLS teams of late to declare the Argentine’s interest in a switch across the Atlantic, which could even happens as soon as this summer.

The 31-year-old, whose Juve contract expires in 2016, has also been linked with a return to boyhood club Boca Juniors in recent months, having declared in December that he did not wish to sign an extension, but general director Giuseppe Marotta has since added that the plan remains for him to see out the rest of his deal.

Regardless, Tevez’s reported interest in MLS comes as a surprise at this point in time considering the brilliant form he has been in for the Italian giants this season, bagging 29 goals in 44 total appearances to help the club retain their Serie A title and make the Champions League semi-finals.

The former Manchester City man, who left the Etihad Stadium for Turin in June 2013, would certainly prove a huge hit in the US should a move materialise but, for now, fans of potential suitors like the Blues' sister club New York City FC and the New York Red Bulls should hold their excitement.
