Manchester United-bound Memphis Depay has told The Sun that he is looking forward to discussing boxing with Wayne Rooney.
Depay will move to United from Dutch champions PSV in the summer transfer window after agreeing a deal with the Premier League outfit, as confirmed on the Red Devils’ official website last week.
The Netherlands international winger is a huge boxing fan and so is United forward Rooney, and it seems that the 21-year-old is looking forward to bonding with the Englishman off the pitch.
“He’s (Rooney) a huge player,” Depay told The Sun. “Of course, I want to play with him. I’m looking forward to it. And I cannot wait to talk boxing with Wayne. Maybe we will have some fun.”
Depay is one of the best young players in Europe and has been truly sensational for PSV this season.
In 29 Eredivisie appearances for PSV this campaign, the 21-year-old has scored 22 goals and created 59 chances, while having a pass accuracy of 75% and a shot accuracy of 48%. Depay has won eight headers, 78 dribbles and 20 tackles.
Meanwhile, Rooney has scored 12 goals and created 45 chances in 32 Premier League matches for United this season, while having a pass accuracy of 85% and a shot accuracy of 51%.
