One of Liverpool's players has confirmed he will leave the club permanently this summer, so what do Reds fans think about it?
The 27-year-old has been on loan at Sevilla this season, scoring 10 goals in 24 appearances to date, but despite that decent form it seems there will be no second chance back on Merseyside.
“The transfer (fee) is to be paid this summer,” Aspas said. “I am very happy at Sevilla, they received me with open arms and I hope to keep paying them back for many years.”
Aspas signed for Liverpool from Celtia Vigo in 2013, but in his debut campaign he scored just one goal in 15 appearances.
With Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli arriving last summer it was no surprise to see Aspas move on loan but it now seems Liverpool fans have seen the last of the Spaniard in a red shirt.
Following the news that Aspas will be leaving we took to Twitter to see what Liverpool fans thought of the news and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Aspas off the books for £6m. All for that too. Need to bin these awful strikers and bring in world class strikers.— Liam Fish (@RedFish_8) May 12, 2015
We've only lost £1.5m on Aspas not bad really— good iberations (@TheLallanaTurn) May 12, 2015
Feel bad for Aspas. Joins a big team, chances are rare, gets shunted out wide in an unnatural position then our fans take the piss outta him— . (@Coppin_LFC) May 12, 2015
Good bye Iago Aspas and thanks for all the great memories— Aaminah (@BelgianKeeper) May 12, 2015
Aspas off to Sevilla for good then. €7mill decent return given how horrendous he was for us..— GeorgeDoors (@stardorman) May 12, 2015
Good luck to Aspas. Got lots of stick for the infamous corner but still don't like to rubbish an LFC player. Wasn't cut out for the EPL imo.— SLFJ (@SlSfj) May 12, 2015
Aspas is 100% off then. For €7m. Good stuff.— Viktor Fagerström (@ViktorFagerLFC) May 12, 2015
