Vuckic has been in incredible form since joining Rangers on loan from Newcastle.
Speaking to the Evening Times, Vuckic admitted that the Ibrox pitch is great for his goalscoring exploits, having scored eight goals in eight games at the famous stadium.
The Slovenian forward said: “I like the space I have at Ibrox. The pitch is very wide and large and the playing surface is always in very good condition. I think that helps bring out the best in me. I have far more space so I can drive forward with the ball at my feet and position myself to score.”
There certainly must be something about the Light Blues’ ground that Vuckic thrives on, with his goal return at Ibrox far better than any he has enjoyed in his short career.
The 22-year-old has become a fan favourite since his loan arrival from Newcastle in January, with his goals firing the Gers back into play-off contention.
Before arriving at the club, Vuckic had netted just once for the Magpies, as well as scoring five times for Rotherham and Cardiff across two separate loan spells. Many thought he was a wasted investment, but his impressive form at Ibrox has suggested that he may still have a future at St James’ Park.
He still has a year to run on his contract on Tyneside, and the state of Newcastle’s squad certainly suggests that Vuckic deserves a chance next season. If he can match his goalscoring exploits with Rangers at St James’ Park, Vuckic may just do enough to earn himself a starting role with the club, and a chance to kick-start his career on Tyneside after a poor couple of years.
