Blackpool and Barnsley eye move for Partick's Conrad Balatoni

HITC Sport understands Partick Thistle defender Conrad Balatoni is set to reject a new deal to seek a move away from the Scottish Premiership.

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Partick Thistle defender Conrad Balatoni is ready to turn down the offer of a new deal, with Blackpool and Barnsley chasing his signature.

Balatoni is out of contract at Firhill this summer and although Partick have indicated they plan to offer the 24-year-old a new deal, the centre-back is ready to snub the offer.

The Leeds-born defender is ready to leave Scotland and move to England for a new challenge and the news has alerted a number of clubs with Balatoni available on a free transfer without any compensation fee if he moves south of the border.

Blackpool and Barnsley are both thought to be admirers of Balatoni and are weighing up moves for the pacy defender.

Balatoni has made over 150 appearances for Partick since joining the club on a free transfer from Hearts in the summer of 2012 after two initial successful loan spells at Firhill.

The 24-year-old is eligible to play for Scotland, England, Hungary or Austria, but he is yet to reach international level.
