Tottenham fans make it clear what they think about Ryan Mason

Tottenham Hotspur's fans have been discussing Ryan Mason's recent form for the club and whether he should be dropped.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason is currently suffering a dip in form that has prompted many Spurs fans to have their say about the 23-year-old.

There is no doubt Mason has impressed in what has been his breakthrough campaign. He has featured 35 times for Tottenham this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists, and he has also earned his first England cap.

But in recent weeks Mason’s form has dipped considerably and that continued on Saturday, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side crashed to a 3-0 victory away to Stoke City.

Given the sheer number of senior midfielders currently at White Hart Lane, it is surprising Mason has not been given a rest with the likes of Paulinho and Mousa Dembele waiting in the wings. And that is something our readers picked up on in comments they have posted in the last few days.

Here we take a look at what some of Tottenham’s supporters have been saying about their young midfielder:

Michael said: ‘Mason shoots far too much and is incredibly terrible about it - one goal on 45 attempts. He should be spending more time acting the defensive midfielder he is supposed to be rather than pretending to be the new Gareth Bale.’

Lag1 said: ‘Mason hasn't had a good game in 2015. Pochettino is an absolute idiot to keep picking him when he has many other central midfield options. If Mason starts as first choice central midfield next season Pochettino has to go.’

Briggs said: ‘I'd drop Eriksen faster than Mason. Talk about flatters to deceive. Is there a less productive so-called No.10 in the Premier League than Eriksen when it comes to creating chances? Lennon has created more in 6 games at Everton than Eriksen has in the entire season.’

Totcat said: ‘Mason does look tired, so yes why not give Paulinho a start. If he has any sense then he should realise that he is playing for his future, wherever that maybe.’

Marcus said: ‘This is a no brainer in my book, drop an average kid who passes to the opposition most of the time and replace him with a Brazilian international who can be almost world class on the right day.’

Muhoo said: ‘Where all talking about Mason but it seems like all are midfielders have gone backwards under Pochettino? I get the feeling he is not interested in technical ability, as long you can get around the pitch for 90mins.’
