Aston Villa midfielder Tom Cleverley has told the Birmingham Mail that he's starting to get back to his best.
Cleverley has scored three goals in his last three games and he believes that he is starting to get back to the top of his game.
“I feel that in the last 10-12 games, I’m getting back to what I know I can do," he said. "That always helps when you’re playing every week.
“All footballers have doubts when they’re having a not-so-good patch and I'm not different. I’ve got my head down. I’ve worked hard with the help of the lads and the new manager and hopefully I can get back to my best. You get what you see with me, loan player or not.”
Cleverley's comments show why his loan spell at Villa has been so productive for him.
The England international had looked bereft of confidence while playing for Manchester United, with his every performance under the spotlight.
However, since moving to Villa, he has been out of the limelight and Tim Sherwood seems to have given him belief in his own ability.
Sherwood has given him more licence to go forward and he has thrived with more freedom, helping Villa climb towards safety.
Cleverley will now be looking to continue his good form to ensure that Villa stay out of the drop zone and to try and earn himself a permanent deal at the club.
