Report: Bournemouth linked with former Tottenham, Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov

Bournemouth are reportedly keen on signing Ex-Tottenham star Berbatov this summer.

The Cherries are preparing for their debut Premier League campaign, and a report in the Guardian claims that they are preparing an offer for the current Monaco man.

Berbatov is currently 34, but he has a wealth of Premier League experience, and Eddie Howe is reportedly keen on adding experienced top flight players to his ranks.

The Bulgarian forward may be ageing, but he has never been the most physical of players, and his talent has never come under question. He would play well into the poaching game utilised by current Cherries striker Callum Wilson, and he could act as the level head of experience alongside his young teammates.

The report states that Bournemouth are keen on signing Berbatov on a free transfer this summer, with his contract with Monaco expiring. The Ligue 1 club are only allowed to name a 22-man squad next term due to restrictions placed upon them for transfer irregualrities, and it is not believed the ageing Bulgarian will agree a new deal.

Formerly of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, Berbatov has netted 102 goals in 250 games in English football. He has the talent to still succeed, as proven by his impact in the Champions League this term, and Bournemouth could do much worse than target him on a free transfer as the experienced Premier League striker they are looking for.
