A Manchester United loanee is excelling so why haven't his parent-club given him a chance?
Manchester United striker Angelo Henriquez may never get the chance to show what he can do in the Premier League, but after scoring his 26th goal of the season for loan side Dinamo Zagreb, there will be fans of his parent-club who cannot fathom why he has been overlooked.
There have been conflicting reports on whether Henriquez will stay or go this summer, but following comments published by Goal.com which suggested the player wanted to remain in Croatia, it seems United fans will never get the chance to see the prolific Chilean in first-team action.
It was not supposed to be like this. When he was signed by former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson it was felt the club had bought another gem, and his form for Zagreb backs up those claims, with Henriquez netting his fifth goal in just three league games in a 1-1 draw against NK Zagreb at the weekend.
Considering United’s strikers have struggled for goals this season – most notably Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao – a return for Henriquez would have been a great option.
But if he really is set to leave Old Trafford for good, without ever making a competitive appearance for the first-team, it will be a case of what might have been, for a player who could end his career with hundreds of goals if he continues at this rate.
