A 6-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday consigned Queens Park Rangers to relegation to the Championship.

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to his side’s relegation from the Premier League.

Rangers needed to pick up all three points from their league game against Manchester City away from home on Sunday to maintain any chance of remaining in the English top flight for the 2015-16 campaign.

However, the London outfit were hammered 6-0 by City at the Etihad Stadium, with Argentina international striker Sergio Aguero scoring a hat-trick.

After the defeat and the subsequent relegation to the Championship, Barton made the following posts on Twitter:

Barton is a very vocal figure, and from his posts above, it does seem that he is genuinely upset and sorry for the fans.

QPR do have a good team, but over the course of the season, the players have not performed well.

Rangers’ away form has been terrible, and even at Loftus Road they have dropped points that they should not have.

It now remains to be seen if QPR will be able to bounce straight back to the Premier League.
