Sheffield Wednesday fans were left to experience a mixture of emotions on Twitter on Monday night, as it was announced Adam Pearson had left the club to become Leeds United's executive director.
Pearson has previously worked for Leeds and the Yorkshire club's official website confirmed that the 50-year-old has returned to Elland Road, where he will work as owner Massimo Cellino's 'right-hand man.'
There was confusion and worry for Wednesday fans at the news. But there was mainly fury and disappointment - coupled with a sense that he clearly wasn't right for the club if his desire was to be elsewhere.
Pearson only joined Sheffield Wednesday as sporting director in April and but his spell with the Owls has been cut very short indeed.
At Leeds, the newly appointed executive director says he is looking forward to using his inside knowledge of the club to guide the Yorkshire side to a good season in the Championship next term. Cellino, meanwhile, is looking forward to Pearson getting to work as he feels he has had far too much to do since returning from Italy.
Leeds fans may have been pleased by the news but Sheffield Wednesday supporters certainly weren't. Here's how some of the Wednesday faithful reacted on Twitter:
Dissapointed in Adam Pearson... The professional thing to do would have been to turn us down if his heart wasn't in it... Poor #swfc— Shane Levitt (@SL110587) May 11, 2015
Adam Pearson wants to go to Leeds and be apart of that mess then thats his call but no loyalty to even see out a year of his contract #Swfc— Dom Webster (@Dwebbo86) May 11, 2015
Had a feeling Adam Pearson wouldnt be hanging round. Never interested from the start by the looks pathetic way to conduct yourself #swfc— Jamie Ellis (@jamieellis89) May 11, 2015
Glad we've got rid of Pearson, we only want people who are fully committed. #swfc— Atdhe Nuhiu (@NuhiuAtdhe34) May 11, 2015
Did I not tell you that Adam Pearson was not to be trusted. Off he scampers back to Leeds. Good riddance. #swfc— Vern (@lecrin) May 11, 2015
The only point to this Pearson story is he's shown his character, well he would have if he had any. Best rid. #SWFC— Butlins McCarthy (@dbainestoronto) May 11, 2015
