Former England forward Stan Collymore has suggested what he feels should worry Tottenham Hotspur supporters.
Former England striker Stan Collymore explained in a session on Periscope TV why he’d be worried as a Tottenham Hotspur fan.
Collymore suggested that Tottenham could be used this summer as a threat designed to draw in supposedly bigger clubs into competing for key players.
“What’s the difference for Morgan Schneiderlin between Arsenal and Spurs? Champions League football,” said Collymore.
“If I was a Spurs fan I’d be worried about them being linked with any player linked with a player who could go to a higher club – They need to be careful about being used as bait for other clubs.”
Tottenham will be under pressure this summer to improve their playing squad, because they have fallen short in terms of pursuing Champions League football this year.
The side has just lost 3-0 against Stoke which leaves them ten points off the pace and the manager will be looking to make changes in the next transfer window.
Schneiderlin will definitely be one option for Mauricio Pochettino, with Tottenham linked to the Frenchman by the Evening Standard, and the boss having a relationship with him from his time in charge of Southampton.
Tottenham are a big club and a side with a very bright future ahead of them, but there’s no doubt that the Champions League is something, which will work against them over the next couple of months.
Spurs have the resources needed to be competitive against most teams in terms of transfers, but any top profile player faces an obvious choice if it comes down to the Champions League against the Europa League.
