Perez believes that securing the draw against West Brom made his strike at the weekend his most important for Newcastle.
Perez netted his seventh goal of the campaign in the 1-1 draw with West Brom, and the Spaniard has admitted to the Shields Gazette that it was his most important strike.
When asked if it was his most important goal, Perez, 21, said: “Yes, undoubtedly. We had a really bad start to the game, and the goal made up for it. It’s one more goal under my belt, so it was very important.”
The summer signing from Tenerife netted the equalising strike late in the first half, with a classy volley from the edge of the area. The Magpies failed to hit the target after that goal, but a 1-1 draw was enough to end the run of straight defeats that has been hanging over their heads for the last few weeks.
Perez has netted some important goals this season, and although he has just seven strikes to his name, the youngster has enjoyed a strong debut campaign in English football.
John Carver will need to see Perez continue his fine goalscoring form if the Magpies are to have any chance of staying in the top flight, and many will be hoping that his strike against West Brom is important so it starts a great run of goalscoring form in the last two games of the Premier League campaign.
