The Frenchman says starting games quickly has been key to their superb form in 2015.

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has told the club’s official website that fast starts to games have proven key for the side.

The Gunners have only conceded six times in their last 11 games, and haven't let in a goal in the first half of a Premier League game for 14 matches.

In fact, their fine form has seen them go those 11 games unbeaten, seeing off Hull City 3-1 last time around thanks a fast and furious first 45 minutes in which their football was a joy to behold.

Now, Koscielny has said that starting games quickly is what has been key to their success so far.

“We are better when we start the game well,” he said.

“We have scored a lot of goals in the first 10 to 15 minutes of games and it is important to keep this going because the team are ready together to go forward together.”

That defensive record is a far cry from previous Arsenal sides which have often been criticised for their lack of defensive solidity and knowhow in recent years.

Their famous trophy-winning sides, including the Invincibles, were always built on solid defences, and they have sadly been lacking for a while at the Emirates. However, their defensive performances this season suggest that has now changed.

Koscielny though, says it is not just the work of the defence that is contributing to their form.

“It is not just the work of the back four,” he added.

“Our quality is to have the ball, to stay high and when we lose the ball to transition from offence to defence. When you watch our game you see that when we win the ball back we are [often] directly in the opponents’ half and we have the players who can make the difference going forward.”
