A week after their heroics at Manchester United, West Bromwich Albion took on Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
Tony Pulis’s side put in another typically resilient defensive display, allowing the hosts the vast majority of the ball but conceding just one goal, scored by Ayoze Perez shortly before half-time.
The match finished 1-1, with Victor Anichebe opening the scoring for West Brom, and the visitors also had Joleon Lescott to thank for clearing the ball off the line and preventing Moussa Sissoko from scoring in the process.

The 32-year-old was playing at left-back for the Baggies, and he put in a solid and important performance to help his side to a share of the spoils.
Lescott made a total of 11 effective clearances, while he also won three tackles, five duels and three interceptions.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what West Brom fans thought of Lescott’s performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Didn't show enough ambition given we were the team with nothing to lose, and Newcastle were going for it. Lescott quality though. #wba— Alex Gibson (@_alexgibbo) May 9, 2015
