West Ham United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has told the club’s official website that he was pleased with the performance of Reece Burke against Aston Villa away from home on Saturday.

Burke made his third Premier League start against the Villans at Villa Park and played for the entire 90 minutes.

Although the Hammers lost the encounter 1-0, Allardyce was impressed with the shift put in by the 18-year-old defender, who kept Villa striker Christian Benteke in check.

“He was great and him and Ginge handled Benteke very well,” the 60-year-old told West Ham’s official website.

Over the course of the 90 minutes, teenage defender Burke had a pass accuracy of 80% and made 12 clearances.

The England Under-19 international was very reliable, as he remained calm under pressure and show maturity while dealing with tough situations.

The youngster seems to be growing in confidence with every game, and it will be very encouraging for the West Ham fans for the 2015-16 Premier League campaign.

In three Premier League appearances so far this season, Burke has won six headers, won four tackles and committed three fouls.
