Liverpool have reportedly eyed up Borussia Dortmund star Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.
PSV Eindhoven winger Depay, 21, ended all speculation over his future last week by agreeing to join Manchester United this summer, leaving Liverpool to look elsewhere.
Manager Brendan Rodgers needs attacking reinforcements this summer having watched his Liverpool team score just 49 goals in 35 games so far - the lowest total of any team in the top six.
Now, with Depay unavailable, The Mirror report that Rodgers will target Borussia Dortmund star Aubameyang during this summer's transfer window instead.
The Gabon international, 25, is known for his blistering pace, something which Rodgers tends to prioritise in attack - whilst his 22 goals for Dortmund this season are also a huge bonus.
With Jurgen Klopp leaving Signal Iduna Park at the end of the season, some players may be looking to leave, and the report suggests that Liverpool are banking on Aubameyang looking for a new challenge.
The former Saint-Etienne star would be an ideal fit for Liverpool, and wouldn't be a terrible runner-up prize after missing out on Depay.
