The Arsenal striker was loaned out to the Championship side for the closing stages of their league campaign but failed to really make an impact up front. It seems the 19-year-old isn't quite ready to lead the line.
But, in Arsenal's last two Premier League games this season, Akpom may be able to make an impact of a different kind - as a substitute.
He looked sharp in training on Sunday afternoon as the Gunners prepared to face Swansea City on Monday night, evading a tackle from midfielder Mathieu Flamini. Granted, Flamini isn't the quickest - but Akpom looked to show a good turn of pace to evade him.

As Opta stats show, the 19-year-old's loan spell at Nottingham Forest was a disappointing one that didn't end up doing much for either club or player. Four chances created and one shot on target were the sum of 404 minutes of play.
But Akpom would have taken plenty away in terms of Championship experience - and it may just have toughened him up ahead of next season, should that be with Arsenal or on loan elsewhere, maybe even Nottingham Forest again (who knows?).
Here he is in training...
